3 Steps That Will Improve Your Life--Even When Things Aren't Going Right

Have you ever stopped to wonder about your life? Are you an active participant, or are you merely existing? Are you letting things happen to you, or are you creating life on purpose? These are some of the questions that popped in my head which led to a radical transformation in my life.

In 2012 I was tired of feeling like I was living on autopilot. I wanted control of my life, my destiny. At the time it was a bit of a struggle as far my beliefs were concerned. I was raised a Catholic but as an adult I realized I was mostly identifying with the beliefs of a Christian. So, true to the religion I became “a born again Christian.” Truth be told, it was the interpretation of those relaying God’s message that left me feeling powerless and wanting more. I felt like I had no control of what happened to me or my life: This feeling of hopelessness nearly thrusted me into a serious state of depression. I’m not sure from where, perhaps it was God shouting out from within, but I got this innate feeling that there was more to life than what I was being told there was. This is when I discovered the Secret and its message of Law of Attraction. Against popular belief, the Secret is not anti-Christian; in fact, there are many believers that correlate the Christian message to the Secret. Pastors like Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyers and TD Jakes all preach the same message that is taught in the Secret.

I tell you this story because if you find yourself on my page somehow struggling with life, wanting more, but feeling guilty about your faith, don’t. I implore you to do your research on this matter so that you can see that the message of the Law of Attraction is love, and among many other things, that we have the power to create our life.

This brings me to the point of my post this week. What does it mean to live on purpose? To live on purpose means this: to care about how you feel at all times. The law of attraction teaches that what creates your life is the feeling you have about any given subject. So, if you care about how you feel, and you are always seeking to feel good then you are creating a better life for yourself, you are living on purpose. The following are 3 simple steps that will help you make the leap to a “purpose living life”.

Step one: Care about how you feel

Many times we find ourselves in a bad mood, and instead of trying to fix it, we ignore it. Or worse, we add fuel to the fire by thinking about what got us in the bad mood in the first place. Or we talk about it over and over again. Noticing how you feel is the first step in changing your life.

Step two: Decide you want to feel better

If at any given time you notice that you’re not feeling right—and we’ve all been there—instead of accepting how bad you feel, decide right then that you want to feel better.

Step three: Find your joy

First thing’s first, do not speak another word about what got you in a bad mood in the first place. Then, immediately look to something that always lifts your spirits. Like a song, or a comedian, or a TV show, or simply talk to someone that makes you smile; anything to shift your energy away from the problem at hand. Do this as often as necessary.

The above steps are the beginning in what is known as deliberate creation. By caring about how you feel—at all times, you are creating a better day, a better life. Before you know it, being in a “bad mood” will no longer be an acceptable way of living. I suggest this, keep this mantra close to your heart every day, I create my life with my feelings. This will serve as a reminder if ever you find yourself not aligned with how you want to feel. Be attentive to how you feel, this is a good indicator of how close you are to living the life you came to live.
